EXETER has been less badly hit by the recession than many places in the country, according to a new report.

Key indicators such as unemployment, repossessions and the number of vacant shops suggest the city is weathering the storm better than many of its counterparts in the region and UK. Exeter City Council's economy scrutiny committee will tomorrow receive an update on local, regional and national trends from Richard Ball, the authority's head of economy and tourism.
