The first time I heard the infectious Jack Names The Planets in 1994, I fell in love with Ash. I was 17 and an A-level student, as were Tim Wheeler, Mark Hamilton and Richard McMurray - but while I was revising for my mock exams they were signing to Infectious Records and touring with Pop Will Eat Itself. While I was trying to decide which universities to apply to, they were turning down support slots with Pearl Jam and Bon Jovi. I mean, just how rock 'n' roll can you get?
