EXETER businesses are being encouraged to go green by Viridor, which has launched a regional recycling campaign. The waste management subsidiary of South West Water owner the Pennon Group has recently invested almost Pounds 300,000 to boost its recycling services in the region for collecting glass, paper, cardboard and other materials from businesses of all shapes and sizes. Patrick Murray, Viridor's regional manager, said: "As well as helping businesses become greener by increasing their recycling rates, they should also save money by reducing the amount of waste going to landfill, which is being taxed at steadily increasing rates until it reaches Pounds 80 per tonne by 2014."
Continuing changes in legislation mean that there is increasing pressure on businesses and homeowners alike to stop sending materials that can be recycled to landfill.See the full content of this document
