THE letter from Stephen Brown, Evidence shows the Earth getting hotter, (June 8) was very strange, especially if you compare it to his letter, Who do you trust on climate change? (June 2).

This series of letters was triggered when I said that while addressing an international climate conference in May Dr Phil Jones had said that there had been "no statistically significant warming since 1995", Stephen wrongly assumed that this was the first time I had heard Dr Jones saying this as he had read it in a national newspaper "well over a year ago".
