PRISONER Ian Hurved -- fighting for freedom after spending the last six years in jail for the attempted murder of his wife -- said without the support of friends and family in Exeter he would have given up.

Hurved was given a 12-year prison sentence for the attempted murder of his estranged wife Fay, at their marital home in Dawlish, in December 2003.
