Sun sets seal on a bumper bank holiday weekend, Echo, Monday, April 13, made me smile, along with a wry shake of my head. Due to the fine and sunny weather Devon's tourist industry had a much- needed bumper weekend. Yet the Met Office, right up to the last moment, got it wrong yet again by 'predicting' that the Easter weekend would be wet!

The reason that it often gives for getting its 'predictions' wrong is that weather forecasting is not an exact science. Bearing this in mind, the Met Office is one of the organisations that 'predicts' that in 50 years time we will be able to cook eggs, on the pavement, in the middle of winter.
