HONITON'S Trevor Pipe held his nerve to progress in the English Indoor Bowling Association Championships but for Exonia's John Hooper it was one shattering defeat after another. In the area semi- finals of the men's over-60 singles, Pipe saw off Hooper 21-20 to earn a final with Duncan Summers (Torbay) after the former Liberty Trophy player beat Robbie Murch (Torquay Utd) 21-13.
Hooper picked himself up to contest the area quarter-final of the England fours alongside Roger Fieldhouse, Paul Stone and Dave Veal, but the Exonia quartet lost out to clubmate Kevin Phillips 22-10. Phillips led 15-3 and never looked back.See the full content of this document
