Summary
RESEARCHERS at the Peninsula Medical School in Exeter are inviting local people to take part in a study that uses small dietary changes to reduce blood pressure in people who are overweight. The researchers will investigate if reducing the overall salt content in food improves the health of blood vessels and the action of the diabetes hormone, insulin. Although a lot of people know that it is a good idea to reduce salt in their diet, the researchers think that overweight people are more likely to have problems in excreting salt and that this is particularly bad for blood vessels.
Poorly functioning blood vessels could also increase the likelihood of developing related diseases, like diabetes. The research team need 60 volunteers to complete the study. For more information or to apply to take part call 01392 403083.See the full content of this document
