Summary


THIS week encompasses both Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday, the two days a year that we specifically remember and think of all of those in the past 100 years or more who have served in the Armed Forces, and particularly those who have sacrificed their lives in pursuit of peace in the world. Although I have never served, and will never fully understand what those brave men and women have gone through, my family has some experience of it; my great-grandfather served in the trenches in the Great War, and my grandparents defended Britain against the onslaught of Hitler in lots of different ways.

As well as historical service, many of the friends I grew up with have since gone on to serve in the Army, Navy and Air Force and some have lost their lives. And for each person who behaved so bravely, I can't help but feel in awe at their strength and determination that the world can be a better place.
