John Cornforth's Crediton United side put up a promising display before going down 4-2 to Peninsula League Premier Division side Buckland Athletic in Monday night's Throgmorton Cup first round tie at Lord's Meadow.

Cornforth lost goalkeeper Fred Tonkin to illness in the pre- match warm-up and he was forced to play defender Paul Tearle in goal for the whole of the tie.
