Summary
IT was for many years part of the heartbeat of Exeter city centre. The Half Moon Hotel, shown here in a fine photograph from Peter Thomas' book, Old Exeter, dated back to the early 1600s and was one of the city busiest coaching inns.
Around 1844 the hotel had become the main departure point for the daily coach to London, and as such was always a hubbub of frantic activity as the coach was the main form of transport out of the city in the days before the steam train.See the full content of this document
