Hunting Act Must Be Tightened Up ; Points of View Because What You Think Matters to Us

OVER four years ago, a law was passed to outlaw hunting a wild animal to death with dogs, but instead of an outright ban, exemptions were written into the Hunting Act, so, as a result, fox hunts in particular have employed every trick in the book to carry on killing foxes as before the ban. In order to end this shameful flouting of the law, and to make it easier to enforce, these exemptions must be tightened, and a recklessness clause must be added to stop hunters claiming an accident every time they kill a fox, deer, hare or mink.

Recently, Tim Bonner, of the Countryside Alliance, openly boasted on Radio 4's Today programme with the words: "We set out to test this law, we have tested it, we've tested it to destruction....."
