Governors Vote for Academy Go-Ahead

GOVERNORS at the city's biggest school have decided to apply for academy status, despite mounting opposition. By a majority vote of 10 votes to four, they propose to make the 1,300-pupil West Exe Technology College the first academy school in Exeter.

It could pave the way for other city schools to follow, according to Paul Smith, chairman of gover nors.
