A group of brainy Exeter students have beaten some of the cleverest people in the country to win a coveted place in the final rounds of a prestigious television quiz show.

Last night millions of viewers tuned in to University Challenge to see David Britton, Emese Hall, captain Amanda Lindsay and Chris Parker win their second round clash against students from London's School of African and Oriental Studies to get a place in the quarter finals.
