Summary


A headteacher can decide to exclude a child permanently for a first or one-off offence in cases of serious actual violence against another pupil or member of staff, sexual assault, supplying an illegal drug or carrying an offensive weapon.

Measures taken to prevent exclusions in Devon include outreach work by pupil referral units - where children get sent when expelled from school.
