THE Echo reported how county council care home staff will receive more than three times their normal pay for working on Christmas Day. Yet hospital staff and ambulance workers would receive no extra cash. George Furzer said: "It is absurd that only the RD&E staff will receive no extra pay, but all other emergency staff will, I fail to see the logic in it!" Lauren Tremlett said: "I think it is really bad because the hospital should be grateful for them even giving up their time to work for them when they could be at home with their families so the hospital should be grateful and pay them extra." Beth South said: "It's good that the public sector is getting paid to work at Christmas, but to not pay hospital staff is absolutely bizarre! "They still provide a service just like the police and the fire service so why shouldn't they get paid as well. "Personally, I think it's wrong to leave them out when they help to save lives every day.
