CUBE Essential Theatre, a touring company from Cornwall, gave two performances of Geppetto at The Northcott recently. The play was both written and directed by Jon Welch. He had intended it to be loosely connected with their school's production of Pinocchio. However, in my opinion, this piece of theatre was more like a study of two characters in isolation whose stories had to be told.
The cast of two had to work extremely hard in what was to be a harrowing production. There was little light relief, although the projected visual images of media, sound interwoven with desperate Italian, and the roar of Nazi trains provided dynamic drama in this rather static production.See the full content of this document
