RESEARCH from two national charities has found that around 80 per cent of government funding set aside for carers has not reached the front line.

The Government allocated Pounds 50 million to support carers in 2009/10, but often does not ring-fence it, and primary care trusts (PCTs) sometimes spend it on other things.
