BEN Bradshaw was not in Parliament in 1971 when MPs voted overwhelmingly to end our experiment with what was called British Standard Time.

Had he been, he would know how unpopular the bleak winter mor nings had become. He would know that the accident rate went up year on year, and he would no doubt extrapolate what the same experiment would mean 40 years later with the increased volume of traffic.
