Legendary rhythm and blues band The Animals and Friends perform at Exeter Corn Exchange tomorrow night. Original member John Steel talks to the Echo's Hannah Hope ahead of the gig The Animals & Friends Exeter Corn Exchange SECOND only to the Rolling Stones in influence among R&B bands, the Animals were one of the most important groups to originate from England in the early 1960s.

They were at the forefront of the first wave of the British invasion of America -- which surprised them as much as it did everyone else.
