A MOTORING menace has been convicted of driving while disqualified for the 18th time. Dale Strange - described as having a dangerous relationship with cars - has racked up the criminal record despite being only 21.

AN academic from the University of Exeter is discussing some of his research on television tonight. Craig Knight is appearing in The Secret Life of Buildings on Channel 4 at 8pm.
THE Exeter Federation of Small Businesses has welcomed the news that John Lewis is taking over the old Debenhams building in Exeter city centre. It is hoping that the arrival of the iconic store will encourage more trade to the city centre and help the smaller businesses in the area grow and prosper. Members have also praised Exeter City Council for its work to secure the store for the city.
Talks Due to Start About Tackling Weeds Problem
TALKS are to take place later this week on tackling Exeter's weeds problem. As revealed in the Echo, Exeter's nine county councillors voted to spend a large proportion of a Pounds 43,650 discretionary fund on treating weeds. The discretionary fund is Exeter's share of a Pounds 300,000 underspend in Devon's budget. The cash has been given to councillors to spend on what they wish and they decided that any money left over after paying for weed spraying would be spent on youth services.
Charity Looking for People to Join Its Devon Hack
IF you can hack it in Devon a children's charity wants to hear from you. The NSPCC is calling on local companies across Devon to enter a team in the 25-mile Hike Against Cruelty to Kids (HACK) in Dawlish Warren.
Police Win Powers to Disperse Youths
POLICE in Pinhoe are anticipating a crackdown on antisocial behaviour in the area as a result of additional powers that were introduced last week. Since May officers in the village have reported an escalation in the number of calls from residents complaining about large groups of youths behaving in intimidating and sometimes dangerous ways.

CHILDREN aged up to 10 and their carers are invited to a free environmental play session in Mincinglake. The session is on Wednesday, August 17, from 10.15am to 12.30pm, in the park between Iolanthe Drive and Lancelot Road. It will start in the enclosed park area.
Stores Extending Opening Hours for City Taste Event
STORES IN Exeter's Princesshay are extending their opening hours until 7pm on Friday and Saturday to celebrate the Taste Princesshay event - and raise money for Hospiscare. Live local musical entertainment, including Princesshay's popular buskers, will play out the sounds of the summer in between cookery demonstrations for shoppers and diners. The free event will take place from noon to 7pm on both days with demonstrations on the hour from noon until 6pm.
