Ex-Speedway Star's Golden Anniversary

FORMER city speedway star Ray Casalucci and his wife Pat are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. Pat, 69 and Ray, 77, of Princes Square, St Thomas, married at Exeter Sacred Heart Church in South Street on September 12, 1959 Ray had worked in his family's ice cream firm after leaving school and went on to ride cycle speedway for Exeter Unicorns. He also played football for Devon under-18s, before National Service in the RAF. Later he became a football referee.

Exeter Pair in Surf-Ski Action ; Canoeing

TOP local canoeist Jenna Hawkey defeated two Olympic kayak champions to win an international surf-ski race in Portugal. The former University of Exeter student came up against Hungarians Natasa Janic and Katalin Kovacs, fresh from winning gold at the World Championships.

TORY leader David Cameron has been accused by Exeter MP Ben Bradshaw of attempting to distract attention with his pledge to slash parliamentary pay, perks and costs.
