Taxi Rank Plans Up for Decision

A DECISION will be made later this month on whether to create two new taxi ranks in a Devon town. The licensing and enforcement committee of East Devon District Council will meet on Tuesday, September 29, to determine whether the proposed ranks on the High Street, Honiton, will go ahead. One rank would be for four vehicles, the other for three.

MORE needs to be done about websites promoting eating disorders. The Royal College of Psychiatrists said plans to keep children safe on line should address the pro-ana and pro-mia sites that advocate anorexia and bulimia.

Children to Get Animated in Forest Centre Workshop

CREATIVE children can take part in an animation workshop at a forest near Exeter. The Centre for Contemporary Art and the Natural World in Haldon Forest will host the workshop, entitled Moving Mirages, on Sunday, September 27.

Mama's Studio Gains Approval

PLANNING permission has been granted for a recording studio to be built at the city venue owned by superstar singer Joss Stone's mother. Wendy Joseph, 48, and husband, Jonathan, 42, opened live music club Mama Stone's in the building which used to be The Hub in Mary Arches Street, last month. A recording studio is set to be installed on the first floor.

THOUSANDS of people lined the streets to watch the world's top cyclists compete in the Tour of Britain. Hundreds of bystanders were in Crediton and Tiverton to see Olympian Bradley Wiggins and national road-racing champ Kristian House in action.
