Police in Exeter have warned drivers who drink and drive that they will be caught and punished. The initiative is being carried out across the force area in a bid to stop drink-driving in the region.
Thousands Celebrate Exeter Church Anniversary
The Cathedral Green was transformed into a sea of colour at the weekend, as thousands gathered to celebrate the 1,100th anniversary of the Diocese of Exeter. More than 5,000 Christians congregated in the sunshine outside Exeter Cathedral to welcome the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, to the city.
City Park Gets Set for Sun Salute
Organised by the Exeter Loves Yoga Group, the free "108 sun salutes" event is being run as an opening to the Exeter Respect Festival in the Park. James Russell, from Exeter Loves Yoga, said: "The number 108 has been made sacred in the Indian subcontinent, from where yoga originates.
Exeter Business Survey Raises Hopes
The latest quarterly survey by the city's chamber of commerce found evidence of rising sales, increasing confidence and a slowing in the rate of job cuts. Some 42 per cent of firms polled in June said their sales had risen over the past three months, up from just 28 per cent in March. Sales were down for less than a third, compared to 45 per cent who reported a fall three months ago.
Reality tv show legend Simon Cowell may have been absent from the judging panel, but Exeter still proved it has plenty of talent. The city's own version of television show Britain's Got Talent saw a host of contestants keen to show off their skills.

Local councils, NHS Primary Care Trusts and the Strategic Health Authority for the South West, along with the Alzheimer's Society, have launched a Dementia Awareness campaign supported by The Echo. The authorities are looking at how to improve dementia services across the South West.
Ide fundraiser are hoping people will attend a gig organised for Monday. All the money raised will go toward the reopening of a post office in the village.
The Devon Air Ambulance Trust is again hosting a fundraising motorcycle ride. It is to take place on Sunday, July 12. It will start at Cullompton Services, just off junction 28 on the M5, and finish at Paignton Green where there will be entertainment, catering, and trade stands.
An Exeter charity shop is making an urgent appeal through Action Echo for donations which it can sell to raise funds. Staff and volunteers at the Children's Hospice South West shop at 21 Paris Street say they have never been so short of stock.
Age Concern Exeter needs more people like Brian Horne and Victor Ashenford. Both men became volunteer drivers for the charity after taking early retirement from their businesses and now they are appealing through Action Echo for more people to join them.
Exeter's Marks & Spencer store has chosen Hospiscare to benefit from its 125th birthday celebrations. Since May the store has raised more than pounds3,000 for the charity, which cares for those who are terminally ill in Exeter, East and Mid Devon.
Animal rescuers in Exeter are appealing for help to find a home for a dog left on his tod. The RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter on the outskirts of the city is looking after unlucky Todd, a brown-and-white collie-type dog, who has found himself without a home not once but twice - and through no fault of his own.
Devon Carers Link and Care Direct were set up to provide advice and support to people looking after loved ones. There are an estimated 73,000 carers in Devon - caring for people with a range of conditions including dementia.
